I hope to be the Authoritarian or “Warm Demander” which we studied and discussed in our classroom management course. As a warm demander I hope to create real world connections with my students that will posses care and respect on both ends. Discussion is something that I find very important within my classroom. Both the subject I teach and the personal interests/activities of my students are important to discuss. Teacher to student along with student to student discussion enhances the learning, sharing, and understanding of ideas. I would describe myself as a hardworking but relaxed teacher. By this, I mean that I put forth great effort to help my students learn by providing the environment and tools to grow. While doing so, I do not stress on the specifics of how my students choose to learn because every student is different. The physical environment is something that I hope to shape using the materials and space I am provided with to create an inviting, interesting, and effective place for exploring and learning. (See Document 1 for an example of a classroom set up)
As I spoke of prior, developing positive, real relationships with my students is important to my classroom. It builds an understanding and cohesion in the classroom that is more comfortable and fun. Without good relationships the classroom can be a cold and even agonizing place to learn. Relationships between peers is a part to this cohesion as well. They are the leading influence to the dynamic of a classroom. Along with relationships comes expectations which I plan to establish with my students early on. These expectations come from both ends and are similar in many ways. My students will expect me to be prepared and work with them during class through discussion and work time. I will put forth my best efforts and do so respectfully to help my students. This expectation of me from my students will be asked for in return by me. This will show fair, mutual expectations of each other that should be seen everyday. This method of back and forth between me and my students is how I hope to set the tone in my class. I have developed an example of a lesson plan for the first five days of class. (Seen in document 2)
During this time, I will put in place rules and procedures to ensure that expectations are carried out. Rules and procedures are different from one another. Rules are more open moral ideas to be followed with class such as respecting others. A procedure however is more specific and gives a certain way to carry out a task such as we will line up at the door single file with our mouths closed and hands at our sides. Even though their will be rules and procedures within my class I don’t not plan on having a large volume. Having too many may cause students to forget or feel restrained within the classroom which is not my goal. I hope to give my students the motivation to be open and free to create and learn in the way they find enjoyable. I cannot force students to enjoy learning the subject I am teaching, but I can help them find a way to make it more interesting. Document 1 Document 2

First Year Tech Goals
Google Tools Google tools offer so many options that are expanding the way we learn and interact. I believe that some of these tools are being focused to art in specific and I hope to continue to explore these options for my class. Screencast I hope to create screencast for my students to watch and recall when I am teaching a lesson. Specifically for things such as graphic design and photoshop. Can also share and spread these screencast to other educators as well. Padlet I plan on using padlet as a collaborative tool for my students and other teachers. It will be used to generate ideas and share resources for each other to think about and use. Virtual Art Exhibit/Khan Academy I will use both of these tools in my classroom because I believe they are specifically applicable to art education. They will inform and teach my students about how to create an exhibit of others work and their own. Along with this they will become educated about the history of art and study and use techniques from specific artists. Digital Storytelling I plan to have students create digital stories because I believe it is a creative way to create art for future use in other career paths as well. I also believe it is important to document the work of students for their own benefit and my own for future classes.
