Leadership Roles
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” – Ernest Hemingway Summer Swim Team Coach & Swim Lesson Instructor During my time over summer break I remain very busy working as a full time lifeguard for the City of Omaha. This job has shown me the responsibilities it takes to monitor large groups of children. Along with lifeguarding I also lead the summer swim at Zorinsky pool. My team alone consists of up to 40 kids ranging anywhere from 6 to 14 years of age. One other coach along with myself train and monitor these children 5 days a week for up to 2 hours. During this time I have gained great experience of how to instruct and enhance children’s skills. Along with this I have also had the chance to teach swim lessons to many different and diverse children. This past summer I was given one of the youngest group of children which consisted of children between the ages of 6 months to 3 years of age. This gave me a great experience of introducing children to the water and was very successful. Athletics As a student in High School I participated in Cross Country and Track. This experience allowed me to be a leading figure for this young new program. I was named Team captain my senior year. I was very fortunate that athletics also lead me to such a great community like Concordia. By continuing my athletic career at Concordia I hope to become a leader and help benefit the team to the best of my abilities. I am lucky to have such great support from my family and coaches and hope to grow not only as an athlete but as a teammate and leader.
